In 2013, Afghanistan XI is playing limited over games series against different regional teams and Pakistan A. Afghanistan XI will play two one days against the Pakistan A which is led by Shahid Afridi. The team comprises of players from all over the country who are best in their regions.
Pakistan A has got victory in their first match against visitors which was played on 11th February 2013 on Monday in Lahore. The hosts have won this match by 8 wickets as they have achieved a total of 122 runs with lots of ease with 23 balls remaining. Khurram Manzoor who is an opener and Umar Akmal have been outstanding in that match as they have made 41 and 47 runs respectively.
Pakistani A bowlers have also contributed a big part in the victory which was led by Mr. Shahid Afridi. He got three wickets and gave only 24 runs in his specific overs. While batting first, Afghanistan have experienced a good start as Karim Sadiq and Mohammad Shahzad made 42 runs with mutual contribution.
The suddenly their batting lineup started to collapse after deadly bowling from left arm bowler Wahab Riaz, who returned Nawroz Mangal and Shahzad to pavilion in two successive deliveries of nineteenth over. After that Afghanistan lost their wickets quickly, as they were unable to face bowling attacks from Shahid Afridi, Zulfiqar Babar and Wahab Riaz, got 3 wickets each.
While when visitors stepped into the ground for bowling, they have missed their best bowler Shapoor Zadran, who is recently playing in BPL, biggest advantage for Pakistan A. Shan Masood and Akmal led the score for Pakistan to snatch victory from Afghanistan and developed 3rd wicket partnership by making 62 runs. Akmal was impressive in this match as he made 47 runs on just 30 balls that involve two sixes and six fours. After considering these statistics, Pakistan A is motivated and confident enough to win their second unofficial ODI at Lahore. Management is not likely to change the winning combination and the team will play with the same team against visitors.
Whereas, Afghanistan has beaten some of the regional teams of Pakistan in their tour due to which they have not loosen their hearts or hopes. They are also confident to perform effectively and efficiently in their second match with Pakistan XI.
By the defeat of Afghanistan in first unofficial game, they have disappointed lots of their Afghani fans as their batting lime up totally collapse and have shown complete immatureness in cricket. However, their first three players are only good in their departments and the remaining team has performed worst. They were not able to face the bowling attacks from Pakistani bowlers. Shahid Afridi has made a strong comeback after a long time, Wahab Riaz has also been effective to support Pakistan as both of them have taken three wickets each.
Thus, if Afghanistan wants to get victory in their second unofficial game then they must have to improve their abilities and must have to formulate effective strategy for batting and bowling wile fielding must also be the best of pressure Pakistani XI.
