India U-19 vs Australia U-19 Final Live

India has another trophy in its ever expanding cabinet. The celebrations will continue for a long time, this has been a well deserved success to the special youngsters. Unmukt Chand has been marked for greatness, will he leapfrog into the national team? Only time will tell, on that note this is Pradeep signing off along with Bhanuprakash. Have a great day ahead..

The trophy has been presented, the Indian team pose for the official photographs.

Time for the winners, India to collect their medals. The biggest cheers seemed to be reserved for Unmukt Chand

William Bosisto is the MoS for his 276 runs. He was dismissed only once during the tournament.

Chand: I don’t have words to express my feelings. I am thankful to god for being able to perform. I scored a century in the last finals as well (quadrangular tournament), Australia were very good today and deserved more luck. Townsville has been very lucky for us, we have enjoyed our time here. The journey of the Indian camp has been very good, we had 15 players from 15 states, now we are one as a team. We have had many camps together and have won many tournaments. I do not have MSD’s number, but I would like to get his number now. I would like to thank our support staff, they did a great job for us, thanks to the NCA staff, the net bowlers, the people back home and the crowd over here. Thanks a lot for being there for us.

Unmukt Chand is the MoM for his sparkling century

William Bosisto: Everyone is pretty deflated in our camp. We had a great time over the last fortnight. We dropped a few chances, that proved costly in the end. Congrats to the Indians, they were better then us in all the facets of the game. Unmukt is an outstanding cricketer and this is not the first time we suffered at his hands. Hopefully, we will get one back at him the next time we play. Thanks to all those responsible for making this tournament such a pleasure.

Time for the runners-up, Australia to get their medals.

The umpires are receiving their momentos, the two onfield umpires, Richard Illingwoth, Rami Martinesz, the 3rd umpire Johannes Cloete and reserve umpire Chris Gaffaney.

Smit Patel: When I went in to bat, the captain appreciated me. I was a bit tentative in the beginning, Chand gave me confidence to get going. We wanted to stick to the basics, the coach told us not to get nervous in tough situations. Chand is a special character, it was awesome to bat with him. We had a century partnership previously as well, we knew we could repeat it today.

The mood is sulken in the Australian camp but one must not forget their efforts as well. They came into the finals unbeaten, their skipper had a tournament of high standards with the bat, however he will forever remember the final for the sitter he dropped off Chand.

India are now level with Australia with three World Cup triumphs. The seniors are the World champions while the juniors are the U-19 champions.

The Indian flag is fluttering high, the mood in the camp seems to be delirious with joy. This is Australia’s first loss in a U-19 WC final, the team looks distraught as they shake hands with the winners.

Big celebrations in the Indian camp, this is their 3rd WC win at this level. Unmukt Chand joins in the illustrious ranks of Mohammad Kaif and Virat Kohli to lift the gleaming cup.
